Don’t Eat The Haggis

I recently returned from Edinburgh, Scotland where I had the honor of representing the CFA Society of Detroit at the CFA Institute Annual Conference and Strategic Leadership Retreat. I was joined by my Sigma colleagues Denise Farkas, Bob Bilkie, and Shari Bilkie. While in Edinburgh, Denise was presented with the Special Service Award. This award is presented periodically to outstanding individuals in recognition of extensive and exceptional services over many years to CFA Institute. It’s quite an honor and we are all very proud of her efforts.
Over 2000 people from all across the globe attended the CFA Annual Conference. It was a wonderful experience to be surrounded by such high caliber investment professionals in that setting. Edinburgh is a beautiful city and the people of Scotland went above and beyond to make each of us feel welcome. I also made a brief side trip to St. Andrew’s to visit the birthplace of golf (and the same place where Prince William met Kate!)

If you’re interested in reading some of the highlights from the conference, CFA Institute has been doing a fantastic job of blogging the conference. You can access the blog at http://annual.cfaconference.org/blog/ where you will find summaries, transcripts, and videos covering topics that range from behavioral finance (one of my favorites was “How to Overcome Flaws in Your Financial Memory”) to various outlooks on China, interest rates, and inflation.

Cheers!
