Day Trading

Sigma Investment Counselors

August 28, 2020

Day trading is not investing!  Wikipedia defines day trading as “speculation in securities, specifically buying and selling financial instruments within the same trading day, such that all positions are closed before the market closes for the trading day.  Traders who trade in this capacity with the motive of profit are therefore speculators.”

Investors construct portfolios, often with the help of their financial advisor(s), that emphasize the longer term, utilizing buy and hold, growth and value based investing strategies.  Portfolios typically focus on the investor’s specific requirements, including such areas as retirement income, charitable giving goals and family specific financial circumstances.
